The PEUGEOT eF01 electric folding bike wins l’Observeur du Design l’Etoile d’Or

This influential French design award was presented on December 5th at the Center Georges Pompidou in Paris. The jury praised the eF01s innovations. The patented folding system designed by PEUGEOT Design Lab facilitates easy multimodal use. The eF01 eBike is the latest addition to PEUGEOT's "last kilometer" mobility offer, initiated with the e-Kick electric-assisted scooter.

This is the first prize received by the PEUGEOT eF01.

Neil Simpson, lead designer at Peugeot Design Lab, spoke of the award; "We are very proud to receive this award. PEUGEOT created its first folding bike more than a century ago. I hope we will talk about the design and innovations of eF01 in 100 years!’’

With its innovative folding mechanism, ten seconds and three movements executed in any order is all that is necessary to fold and unfold the bike. Due to this, users can alternate trips by bike, on foot or by car and train. After parking the car, the last kilometers of a journey can be completed effortlessly, whatever the terrain due to the powerful electric motor. The battery is charged in the cars boot while driving or on a conventional wall socket. The assisted top speed is 20 km / h and allows a range of 30 kilometers. The eF01 is on sale at € 1,999.

LObserveur du Design l’Etoile d’Or ceremony took place on December 5th at the Center Georges Pompidou in Paris. It brought together 1400 professionals in the presence of representatives of the state. Every year l’Observeur du Design l’Etoile d’Or reward the best achievements of French designers and companies. The prize has been organized since 1999 by the Agency for the Promotion of Industrial Creation (APCI), supported by the Ministry of Economy and Culture.
